Goose Creek Police Traffic Unit — DRE Challenge Coin
Built around traffic enforcement, impaired-driving detection and the specialized work of Drug Recognition Experts, this challenge coin represents the Goose Creek Police Department Traffic Unit and its commitment to keeping South Carolina roadways safe.
The Design
The Goose Creek Police Traffic Unit side features a detailed street map of the Goose Creek area beneath the outline of South Carolina and the state's iconic palmetto tree and crescent. Two police vehicles with illuminated emergency lights anchor the design, while “#CreekRising” and “Est. 1961” recognize the department and community they serve. A blue-and-gold border with a rope-style edge completes the design.
The Drug Recognition Expert side centers on the DRE eagle emblem and Systematic Standardized Evaluation, surrounded by representations of the seven drug categories recognized within the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program: CNS depressants, CNS stimulants, hallucinogens, dissociative anesthetics, narcotic analgesics, inhalants and cannabis. The phrases “Target Zero Traffic Deaths” and “We Own the Night” frame the design.
